Angela M. Furlanetto, Partner

Since being called to the Ontario Bar in 1998, Angela's practice has focussed on all areas of intellectual property litigation with an emphasis on patent litigation, particularly in the pharmaceutical, chemical and biotech fields, including matters relating to the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations. Angela is both a registered patent and trademark agent.
Angela has significant experience in all aspects of intellectual property litigation, ranging from pre-litigation opinions to conduct of matters through trial and appeal. She has worked with counsel in various jurisdictions to co-ordinate the Canadian part of multi-jurisdictional lawsuits.
Angela is a regular speaker at conferences and a frequent contributor to intellectual property publications. She is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and Co-Chair of the Harold G. Fox Moot on intellectual property law. Angela is also active in committees on intellectual property litigation: as a Fellow of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC), she serves as Vice-Chair of the IPIC Litigation Committee; she is a member of the Executive of the Canadian Bar Association’s (CBA) National IP Section and a member of the CBA’s Court Practice Committee. Angela is also one of seven litigators on the Federal Court IP Users' Committee, a liaison committee with members from the judiciary and the IP bar, focussing on IP litigation practice in the Federal Court.
Prior to earning her LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario in 1996, Angela obtained a M.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Western Ontario in 1993 and a B.Sc. in Biochemistry (Summa cum laude) from McMaster University in 1991.
