Geoffrey D. Mowatt

Geoff was called to the Ontario Bar in 2006. His practice includes all areas of intellectual property law with a focus on patent and trademark litigation—including pharmaceutical litigation under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations. Geoff is also a registered patent agent and a registered trademark agent.
Geoff is a co-author (with Ron Dimock) of the Patent Anticipation (Novelty) chapter of the IP Benchbook for Patents, an electronic textbook for the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal judiciary published by the National Judicial Institute/Law Society of Upper Canada in 2007. He is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association, American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Canadian Association of Professional Regulatory Affairs, The Toronto Intellectual Property Group and an Associate of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada.
Geoff received his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2005, where he was awarded the Bereskin & Parr Prize in Patents for the highest grade in the Patents course, and was a Senior Editor of the Osgoode Hall Law Journal. He was also a member of the 2004 Corporate Securities and 2005 Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Teams at Osgoode Hall.
Geoff holds a M.Sc. from the University of Toronto where his graduate work involved geochemistry and computer modelling of groundwater contaminants. He worked for two years as a consultant at a groundwater engineering firm prior to attending law school.
