Geoff Mowatt joined Dimock Stratton LLP in 2004 and was called to the bar in 2006. As an associate lawyer at the firm, his practice includes primarily intellectual property litigation, with an emphasis on pharmaceutical litigation under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations. He is also a registered trade-mark agent and practices both trade-mark and patent prosecution. Geoff is a co-author (with Ron Dimock) of the “Patent Anticipation (Novelty)” chapter of the IP Benchbook for Patents, published by the National Judicial Institute/Law Society of Upper Canada in 2007, which is an electronic textbook for the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal judiciary. Geoff received his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2005, where he was awarded the Bereskin & Parr Prize in Patents for attaining the highest grade in the Patents course. In his final two years of law school, Geoff was a Senior Editor of the Osgoode Hall Law Journal and a member of the 2004 Corporate/Securities and 2005 Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Teams. Geoff has a B.Sc. (Honours) specializing in Environmental Science and a M.Sc. in Hydrogeology, both from the University of Toronto. His graduate work focused on geochemistry and three-dimensional computer groundwater modeling. Geoff worked as a consultant for a groundwater engineering firm north of Toronto for two years prior to attending law school.
