Intellectual Property Databases

Use caution when searching patent and trade-mark databases yourself. Online databases may lack full coverage of all issued or pending patents or trade-marks. There may also be a delay between the filing, publication or grant of an intellectual property right and its entry in an online database. Files may be misclassified, or your search terms may not be accurate. Also, common law trade-mark rights do not require registration.
